Third Wave Partners seeks to invest as a principal, joint venture, and provide comprehensive restructuring and workout advisory services to clients in the following situations:

Distressed and discounted loan sales and purchases
Loan workouts, restructurings, and asset recoveries
Short sales of properties
Receiverships and bankruptcies
Debtor in possession financing
Purchase and turnaround of foreclosed properties
Partnership disputes
Mediation as an alternative to litigation
Crisis and interim management
Purchases of distressed limited partner interests
Creative, mutually beneficial solutions for distressed borrowers, investors, and lenders

The unique background and expertise of Third Wave’s principals allows them to understand these situations from the perspectives of the lenders, investors, borrower, and operator. Third Wave’s ability to bring significant capital, as well as extensive legal and business insight, to these situations provides an extraordinary range of benefits to all of the participants in these complicated transactions.

Depending on the circumstances, Third Wave may take on the role of a principal, such as directly buying a note or providing capital to a distressed borrower or owner in a friendly joint venture structure. Also, we may act more as a strategic restructuring or workout advisor to lenders, investors, and borrowers facing these challenging situations. Further, we may joint venture with larger institutional investors and real estate operators that are making investments in the distressed segment of the market.

Our objective is to invest $100 million of equity in distressed opportunities in the next twelve months, but our investment activity will be determined by the quality of opportunities that are available in the market. Initially, we will focus on acting as a principal in transactions requiring less than $20 million of equity. The principals of Third Wave will co-invest their own capital in every investment that we make, and we will manage or co-manage every investment.
